Clinic education objectives, evaluations, and rotation schedules are developed by each program’s faculty and supervised by the program’s clinical coordinator. Clinic rotation assignments are integrated with didactic and laboratory course content since they are complementary to one another. Clinic rotation assignments are made based on each student’s skills and previous rotation experiences; therefore, students cannot request specific clinical rotations for convenience. Students may only attend clinic during their assigned hours, and all make-up time must be approved in advance by the clinic affiliate and the clinical coordinator. Clinic time may not be made-up in advance of an absence.
Students must maintain reliable transportation for timely arrival to assigned sites. “Reliable transportation” means having consistent access to a licensed, operable vehicle or viable public transit options sufficient to meet site attendance and scheduling requirements. Students may be asked to attest to transportation readiness during placement onboarding. Some placements may be geographically distant, making daily commute impractical. Students should anticipate possible temporary housing costs (e.g., short term rentals, dormitory/affiliate housing, or host arrangements). Students are responsible for fuel and routine travel expenses. Students are strongly encouraged to budget for these potential costs. Students may be assigned to sites anywhere in the State of Oklahoma based on educational objectives, site capacity, faculty assessment, and program needs. Placements may include rural communities to meet competencies and accreditation standards. Rotations may vary in length. Specific durations and schedules will be communicated in advance. Clinical coordinators will strive for equitable rotation assignments while balancing educational needs and site availability. Students experiencing significant financial, medical, or caregiving hardships may submit a formal request for review to OASA.
